6th Annual "Cuts for Cancer" Planned

Mark your calendars!

Kenneth Shuler Schools of Cosmetology is proud to announce that its sixth annual "Cuts for Cancer" event will be held on March 21st (2-5 PM) and March 22nd (10:30 AM-5:00 PM) at the St. Andrews Road and Garners Ferry Road campuses in Columbia.

Students and staff will be on hand providing $5.00 haircuts, bang trims, neck tapes, mini manicures, mini pedicures, waxings, beard trims, and mustache trims.  All proceeds from the event will go to Children's Chance, which is the only South Carolina non-profit organization dedicated to providing non-medical support (such as financial, emotional and psychological aid) to children facing cancer and their families.

For the past five years, Kenneth Shuler Schools of Cosmetology has donated its time, talents, facilities and efforts to help Children's Chance increase awareness about childhood cancer.  Last year, a total of $3,000 was raised during the nine-and-a-half-hour event.

All services will be provided on a walk-in only basis.  Services besides the above mentioned ones, with the exception of chemical services, will also be available upon request at their regular prices.

Please make plans to support Kenneth Shuler Schools of Cosmetology and Children's Chance as they work to make life a little bit easier for kids and families struggling through this terrible disease.  Together, we can all make a difference.

KS Partners With The Souper Bowl of Caring

It's one of the most anticipated football games of the year--the Super Bowl.  This year, the New Orleans Saints took home the coveted title by beating the Indianapolis Colts 31-17.  At Kenneth Shuler, however, staff and students took the game to a whole new level and worked to make sure those less fortunate in our communities came out as winners, too.

That's why KS partnered with the Souper Bowl of Caring.  This organization works with churches, businesses, and schools across the nation "to positively impact their communities by collecting money or food on or near Super Bowl weekend."

KS's six campuses began their fundraising efforts (which included things like bake sales, student jean days, and raffles) in January and worked through the month of February.  When it was all said and done, nearly $2,300 was raised and donated to local charities.

Locks of Love Event A HUGE Success

locks3Students and staff from Kenneth Shuler’s St. Andrews and Garners Ferry Road campuses came together with employees from Blue Cross Blue Shield and Children’s Chance for a very successful Locks of Love event on July 24.

The event was held at Blue Cross Blue Shield’s offices on Percival Road in Columbia and was only open to the company’s employees.  More than 30 people braved the scissors and donated hair to the not-for-profit association, which gives qualified children and teens who are struggling from medical-related hair loss high-quality hairpieces, according to their website.

In addition, employees donated money to the local non-profit Children’s Chance by purchasing stickers that allowed them to dress down for the day.  Children’s Chance helps children with cancer in South Carolina, as well as their families, with “non-medical needs”, according to their website.

A tremendous thanks goes out to all who helped to make this event such a wonderful hit!
