Getting Started With Distance Learning

CLICK ON THE STEPS BELOW...
STEP 1:  Determine if you are eligible.
There are several factors in allowing a student to participate in the Temporary Distance Education (TDE). Remember that we are all hoping that this is temporary and we will be able to get back to normal soon!

Which one describes you?

I'M ON A LEAVE OF ABSENCE...
Please contact your School Director a few days prior to the day that you are supposed to return.  At that time, we will determine if it is best for you to jump onto the Distance Education or extend your Leave of Absence.

I'M LESS THAN HALF WAY THROUGH THE PROGRAM...
Congratulations, you are eligible to participate in Temporary Distance Education.

I'M MORE THAN HALF WAY THROUGH, BUT I STILL HAVE MOCK BOARDS, FINAL, AND MY REMAINING HOURS...
You may participate in Temporary Distance Education. HOWEVER, you will be stopped from participating in Temporary Distance Education at 50 hours short of completion of the program. At that time, you will be placed on a Leave of Absence until the state of emergency has been lifted and the school can reopen. This will ensure enough time to complete Mock Boards, Final Examination, and any missing practicals prior to completion of the program.

I'VE COMPLETED EVERYTHING BUT MY REMAINING HOURS...
Congratulations, you are eligible to participate in Temporary Distance Education to complete your remaining hours!  We will be working closely with you to make sure that all of your grades are in and that we continue to process your paperwork with PCS.

-OR-

I DON'T HAVE INTERNET ACCESS OR CANNOT MEET THE 4 HOURS REQUIRED PER DAY FOR 5 DAYS...
Please contact your School Director to discuss your status so that we can better serve you.

STEP 2:  If eligible, electronically sign for approval.
All eligible students will be sent an electronic contract addendum, via email, from our Financial Aid Processing Center.  We will notify you via the app once these are being sent out.  This addendum will show an updated contracted graduation date which is based upon the 20 hour a week schedule.  This addendum must be electronically signed as your agreeing to be enrolled in the Temporary Distance Education.  Those who do not sign will not be eligible.

If you were previously scheduled for 30 hours a week, we hope to place you back on that schedule once the physical location is allowed to open back up or we are able to add additional time frames to distance education.
STEP 3:  Review which session time frames work best for you.
There will be four - two hour sessions each day.  You must pick two of the sessions to attend through distance education.  Both sessions you choose must be on different topics.  Please see the Distance Education Main Page for the weekly topics/assignments.
Below are the four sessions:
Session 1 -  9 am – 11am
Session 2 -  12 pm – 2 pm
Session 3 -  5:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Session 4 -  8 pm – 10 pm
STEP 4:  Log into MindTap using your new Course Key
All students, who are participating in temporary distance education, will be given a new Course Key.  This Course Key will be sent to you via your student app.  Once you get the new Course Key, you will need to log into MindTap and add the new Course Key.  There will be a video walk-thru to help you with this on our Distanced Education page.
STEP 5:  Log into MindTap each day for your Education.
All students will be notified of the launch date.  On that date, all students must log onto MindTap and complete the assignments, for their chosen sessions, that day.  For every day thereafter, you must continue to choose two sessions each day and complete those assignments.  Having multiple sessions allows for more flexibility for our students.
