A Message to Our Community: Celebrating 20 Years of Passion and Excellence at our Spartanburg Campus

Dear Students, Alumni, Staff, and Valued Patrons,

Since 2006, our Spartanburg Campus has been more than just a school—it has been a place where creativity thrives, lifelong friendships are forged, and dreams are transformed into flourishing careers. Over the past two decades, we have had the distinct honor of training thousands of talented individuals, watching them grow from passionate beginners into exceptional licensed Cosmetologists and Estheticians who have gone on to shape the beauty industry.

However, maintaining operations at this location has become unsustainable due to changing enrollment trends and evolving market conditions.  It is with a heavy heart, but a profound sense of pride in our shared legacy, that we announce our institution will officially close its doors on August 1, 2026.

This decision was made only after careful consideration and evaluation of long-term operational needs. However, as we prepare for this final chapter, our absolute priority is ensuring a smooth, supportive, and seamless transition for our current students, dedicated faculty, and staff.

While the Spartanburg campus will close, Kenneth Shuler School of Cosmetology will continue serving students through our remaining South Carolina campuses and remains committed to educating the next generation of beauty professionals.

To Our Current Students
Your dreams do not pause here. We are fully committed to guiding you through this transition, whether that means completing your hours with us before the closure date, transferring to another Kenneth Shuler School of Cosmetology, helping you transfer to another approved institution, or receiving a pro rata refund per your contract. We will be holding dedicated informational meetings this week to answer every question regarding your hours, financial aid, and next steps. We are with you every step of the way.

To Our Remarkable Alumni
You are our living legacy. Every time you style a client, master a skincare treatment, or build your own business, you carry a piece of this institution with you. We are immensely proud of the impact you make in the beauty world every single day.

To Our Incredible Staff and Educators
Thank you for your tireless dedication, your mentorship, and the artistry you have poured into every classroom and clinic floor. You did not just teach a curriculum; you built the foundation for thousands of successful careers.

To Our Loyal Patrons
Thank you for trusting our students with your care and providing our students with the vital, hands-on experience needed to master their craft. Your support over the last 20 years has meant the world to us.

While our physical doors will close on August 1st, the impact of the thousands of professionals who got their start within these walls will endure for decades to come. Thank you for being a part of our story, our family, and our legacy.

With deepest gratitude and respect,
Kenneth Shuler’s School of Cosmetology, Inc.

Frequently Asked Questions (These will continue to be updated as questions arise):

General –

Are all of the Kenneth Shuler School of Cosmetology locations closing?

Answer:  NO!  We will only be closing our Spartanburg and Goose Creek locations.  Our other five campuses will remain open.

How long have you known that you were going to close the school?

Answer:  This decision was incredibly difficult and was not taken lightly. The final decision to close the school was officially made on June 1st.  Immediately following that decision, our corporate staff immediately structured a notification plan to ensure we met all regulatory notification requirements. Our absolute priority was to inform both our staff and students as quickly as possible, allowing for the maximum amount of advance notice.

What happens to my hours?

Answer:  You will not lose any of your hours and you will be provided with a final transcript whether you decide to complete the program by the date of closure, attend and complete at another Kenneth Shuler School of Cosmetology, transfer to another approved institution, or receive a pro rata refund based upon your enrollment agreement.

What happens to my financial aid?

Answer:  Every students’ financial aid is different.  We will be meeting with every student to determine what their plan may be in regards to completing the program, attend and complete at another Kenneth Shuler School of Cosmetology, transfer to another approved institution, or receive a pro rata refund based upon their enrollment agreement.

I’m a former student: Will my existing student loans be forgiven/canceled?

Answer:  Because you successfully completed your program and earned your diploma, you received the educational services you paid for, meaning you are still legally obligated to repay your loans. For more information, please visit: https://studentaid.gov/manage-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/closed-school

What happens to my enrollment agreement (contract)?

Answer:  All student contracts contain a statement regarding the closure of the institution and a Teach Out Agreement or pro rata refund.  Our school will be entering into Teach Out Agreements with local accredited schools if possible.

What is a Teach Out Agreement?

Answer:  This is an agreement between our school and another accredited institution.  This agreement helps to ensure a smooth transition into another accredited institution with additional costs.

After the school closes, how will I be able to request additional transcripts?

Answer:  Please contact the Kenneth Shuler School of Cosmetology Corporate Office by calling 803-798-8515 or emailing:  info@kennethshuler.com

Guest –

I’ve been getting services at the school for years, what happens now?

Answer:  We cannot thank you enough for being there to support our students and their growth in this industry.  Without you, our students would not be able to practice and build the skills that they would need to be successful.  We do have other locations open in South Carolina that you can go to in order to receive services.  Again, we thank you!
