Guide to Financial Aid

Financial aid is available to all who qualify.

The following steps and information will help guide you through the Free Application for the Federal Student Aid process. The information is a brief overview of what to expect when navigating through the online application. For more specific and detailed explanations, please log on to the Federal website www.studentaid.gov or contact the Kenneth Shuler School of Cosmetology Financial Aid Processing Center at 864-804-6810. We want this to be an easy process for you and want you to have all financial aid or scholarship program information available.

Step 1

Apply for a U.S. Dept. of Education FSA ID if you do not already have one.

Your FSA ID is an electronic access code that will enable you to sign online documents and access your Federal Aid records. Having one will speed up your process in completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

If you have not yet applied for an FSA ID go to www.fafsa.gov and follow the instructions by clicking the FSA ID icon at the top of the page. If you are a dependent student, both you and a parent will need an FSA ID to complete the online process.

If you have an FSA ID already and have completed a current FAFSA – go to STEP 3. If you have an FSA ID and have not completed a current FAFSA – go to STEP 2. Once received, keep your FSA ID confidential since it can be used to access personal/confidential information.

Step 2

If you are completing a current FAFSA for the first time.

Go to the www.studentaid.gov website and complete the FAFSA worksheet. This will help you gather all of the necessary items to prepare for the actual on-line process.

Once the worksheet is complete, click “Start a New FAFSA” and follow the prompts to complete it. Don’t forget to sign the signature page (and your parent, if dependent) with your FSA ID!

See STEP 3 below for the School Code for the campus in which you would like to attend.

For assistance with the online application call the Federal Student Aid Information Center @ 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243).

If you are hearing impaired, contact the TTY line @ 1-800-730-8913.

Step 3

If you have already completed a current FAFSA.

Go to www.studentaid.gov and click on “Make Corrections to a Processed FAFSA” and add the school code for the Kenneth Shuler School of Cosmetology campus that you are planning to attend. The school codes are listed below for your reference.
